NRG Hood Dampers: Are both really necessary?

Can just one hold the hood up? Yes it can. However now the hood is being help open only in one lower corner. I believe this may apply a little bit of twist on the hood. And maybe over several repeated opening and closing it may twist the hood a bit? Where as if there are two it will pull down equally from each corner. That is the only possible think I can think of.
