Default NRG FRONT STRUT BAR X BRACE

hey,

I know this is only from ebay, but I have seen a few pics of this item... My opinion on regular strut tower bars is that they look nice on the s2k, thats it, they don't really do anything else...

that said look at this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NRG-FRONT-S...sspagenameZWDVW

what do you think, will this thing but usefull or useless...

thanks

Note that there's no intake installed in those pictures... I don't know what intake you'd even be able to use with that. It looks like it might block the stock airbox, and you definitely won't be able to put in a cold air intake like the AEM since that brace will be in the way. I guess if you were using a short ram or something like the K&N FIPK it would fit, but I'm not sure how much more effective that brace would be in the first place.

I'd just buy an X-brace like the Muz or Cusco that sits under the engine, since that is a proven design and won't get in the way of anything.

actually, i think T1R has a similar item and the nrg might have been modeled after it. i'm pretty sure i've seen pics of it with an airbox.. i dont think that it would hinder any intake actually. i dont know of any intake that would get that close to the engine.

Ive seen variations of that brace with a few different intakes including stock and they all seemed to fit fine.

Yeah I do know they'll work fine as long as you get a difference intake, and that what I planned on doing. Also, I do have already have an "under engine" xbrace, but what I don't know is does this this actually do anything or is it no difference than a front strut bar with extra bolt holes?

That really isn't gonna do much for you. Just like you said, they look nice. It's very doubtful that you'll feel a difference though.

i'm getting one from him. waiting for it to reach me and have it anodize blue locally. Will tell you the feel.. with cross member, its definitely going to feel even sharper and handles better.. but again, stock form already handles well, so any finer improvement it difficult to tell. I believe engineering speaking it should add improvement than std bar..
