unless by some chance he was pushing 350+ hp, it's got a natural understeer as you approach cornering limits when partly on the gas...................... if up in VTEC b4 the apex and accelerate through the turn, then quite neutral............. stock, it doesn't have the balls to be 'tail happy'. It's as tail happy a car as I've ever driven. It's balanced toward oversteer (compared to most cars which are designed to understeer) so, if you do something stupid, like this driver you'll spin it. He lifted. He was driving fast, had some oncoming traffic, lifted off the throttle and that's all she wrote.
The lesson is, be damn careful when getting off the gas in a corner. Any car will do this if you lift, the S2000 is just much more likely to. You slowly back out of the throttle and prepare to countersteer. If he'd gotten back in the gas he might have caught it.

That is a very very very old vid. All were OK, but car did land upsidedown IIRC. Careful review by many looking at a much better resolution vid noticed that the car got into some debris at the road's edge during the turn causing the outside rear to lose traction. Driver successfully kept the car from going all the way around, but was pointed in the wrong direction.

My cousin totalled his MY00 in very similar circumstances. He entered a downhill lefthander (probably a little harder and faster than was prudent), hit some loose gravel, and broke the rear end loose toward the right shoulder.
He caught the car and the overcorrection but by the time he got the car straight again the road wasn't. He never blamed the car, just the situation.
