Notchy Shifting Remedies
#21
i took mine to the dealer, they changed the fluid (it's a little better) for me and then they said it's normal and they showed me the honda letter saying it's normal for these car to do this when they are cold...
i adjusted the seats (closer) and shift a little slower when it's cold and it doesn't do it that much anymore and when the Transmission is hot...it's perfect.
but it doesn't hurt to changed the fluid.
good luck

To the OP, I did a trans fluid flush and a very heavy TWM shift knob and couldn't be happier.

I just replaced my clutch master cylinder on sat. Mine was very notchy even after the tranny fluid change. Its 80 bucks an about an hour of your time. Took mine away almost 100%. Turns out mine has a leak it in and it was getting air bubbles in the CMC causing the clutch not to release all the way. Check your fluid and if its low. Just replace it.

also remember, you need to change your tranny fluid every 20k or so. i use redline mtl. works awesome in my tropic climate. on a cold morning, the shifter is notchy until it warms up, but this takes only a mile or so.
the 1-2 grind can be worn tranny fluid or the crappy original honda mtf, but it could also be your driving/shifting style. make sure you go all the way down on the clutch pedal, and dont shift super fast. down on the pedal all the way, shift to second, off pedal. of course this is for people that grind a quick shift 1-2. i had this problem, i swapped the fluid and changed my seating position......bam grind gone
