Not Happy With My '04
#31
well it doesnt really matter if 04 is better than 00-03 and 00-03 are better than 04
the things is HE IS NOT HAPPY in his 04 then go get 00-03?
that is what i wanna tell u
samething if u r not happy with 00-03 go get 04....
we should careless about telling good things and bad things between 00-03 and 04
all it should matter is what we like and be happy driving in it

Also, get an alignment. my 04's alignment was lousy from the factory.
My alignment was also crappy, especially the rear toe, which was "in" by 2-3 deg. This made the tail very unstable at the limit.. once I got it aligned, it was a different car, handling wise.

Alot of people fish tails with the s2ks in turns not because the car handles poorly, but because most people do not understand how to drive rwd's.

I have read in a number of places that the '04 is a bit quicker than the previous versions. See, e.g., http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/ro...0403scc_s2000/
acceleration 04>00-03
slalom 04>00-03
skidpad 00-03>04

None of the others tail would break as suddenly as Sk2. Sk2 corrects very easily but it goes out even with a competent experienced driver.

Wow. I have a small bit of experience autocrossing an '86 911, and if you say your '04 is more oversteer prone than a 911, I think your S2000 is broken, because that absolutely should not be.
You also seem to suggest that your '04 is more oversteer prone than your '01. Again, that absolutely should not be.
Seriously - have you checked for spring spacers? It's easy to do.
ps - can you describe WHY there is "no screaming adrenalin hit"?

I have owned both cars, the 2 and the 2.2. The 04 does take a while to get use to. The things I notice the most are the slower stearing, softer rear shocks, and an easier clutch(softer).
The acceleration is just as fun if not better in the 04. I raced my friend when I had my 02 and he had his 04. I was in front of him so I got the jump. I had a cai, invidia exhaust, no spare, and could not pull an inch on him from 40mph up to around 100mph. It looked like he was waiting for me to get out of his way. He was stock, less than 1000 miles on the odometer, and had the spare with about another 100 lbs of stuff in the trunk. Sure you need to up shift sooner, but I do feel the power coming on more below the 6k changeover than I did with the pre04. I often find myself spending more time below below 6k in the 04 becuase the power is there.
Overall, I am happy with my decision. Dont get me wrong, I do miss the 9k shift, but overall I think the my04 is a better car. Get an aem cai and tell me vtech isnt fun!!! We all know the my04 s looks better. Bottom line, they are both great cars.
