Default Noob question on the differential fluid

Tried searching but did not come up with much. Basically I just got my s2k the other day with 24k miles on it. Already replaced oil, MTF is next, and then the differential fluid. I'm set on going with the Mobil 1 75w90 but having a hard time finding it. I tried advance auto but no such luck. Are any stores that carry it or could you recommend a reputable online place? Also I noticed there is 'gear oil' which is in the grey container and also there's is the gear oil lube wich is in a purplish container? Is there any difference? Thanks.

I've always been able to get it off the shelf at Pep Boys or Autozone. They usually have the stuff in stock. You want the fluid in the gray bottle. Mobil 1 75W-90 gear oil.

yea, I find it everywhere.

Make sure it is GL-5 certified. Simply being 75w90 is NOT enough.

I like Mobil1 75W90 better than LE607 I had in my S for about 1.5 years.

I found that Walmart has more variety of engine oils than any autopart stores in my area and they are cheapper too. I need Mobil1 0W40 for MB E430, the only places I can find them is at Walmart and MB dealer.

Yes, the motor oil but not the gear oil. I have yet to see a Wal*Mart stock the Mobil1 Synth 75w90 gear oil.....and I have checked ALOT of them while I'm there getting my oil.

Try any Pepboys/Kragen/Autozone. Gray bottle. Between $8-10.

Congrats on the new ride and for doing DIY.

I got mine at Advance Auto. It's not sitting with the Engine oil.. It's not even sitting with the other gear oils It was on a shelf all by its self.. maybe its that good and special. I have not found it at walmart.. only 5 gallon jugs of engine oil.
