Therefore, your slope of gallons per bars is 11/20= .55 gallons per bar.

my S also has a strange way of indication. my first half seem some what consistent, but the last quarter goes by in about 25 miles.

i had a del sol that had a gauge that changed dramatically when the car turned lol. annoying!

Mine is pretty linear..about 130 for half and empty around 260. I also wait until 0-1 bars left and will fill about 11 gallons.

i'm still only getting adjusted to my s2k now since im fairly new to it, and the gas guage is something that has been puzzling me since i've got it. Like most here, the first bar usually goes down pretty quick, and the rest of the tank up to the first half is usually pretty good, im usually at around 200-220km (125ish miles) but the last half is so unpredictable. One day, i turned on my car in my garage, and had 5 bars left. I figure im fine to make the 7km drive to work and back, and ill get gas after work. On the way home, i strayed a little from my destination, so add about another 5km to that trip, but pulling into the gas station, all 5 bars were gone and the light had turned on. I always heard that whenever a gas light turns on, you've got about 10L (3ish gallons?) left in the tank. 10L should get me at least 80km more before the car totally runs out of fuel.

Of course, i really hate it when the gas light comes on, but its so damn hard to predict when it will with the s2k since the last 1/4 tank drops so quick. I'll just have to start watcihng my ODO instead.

The new civics are also problematic, but not as bad as the S. I notice the first bar takes the longest to disappear, but after that, everythign goes down pretty linearly, and its easier to predict.

My gas gauge has been pretty linear for the most part except I drive roughly 50 miles before any bars disappear after a fill-up which seems to be opposite of most people here? Also the last 4 bars or so are horribly inaccurate, they go up down then before I know it the gas light comes on... ugh!

You guys only get like 200-250 miles per tank!? I get close to 300 almost every time and I don't lay off the vtec either... maybe it's all the highway driving I'm doing.

highway definately makes a difference with how many miles you get to a tank. i get about 230-240 miles if i run the car until it has 0 bars and the light JUST turns on, and then fill up only til the pump cuts off the first time, no "top-off" for me. this is 98% city driving...actually, i don't even think we really technically have highway driving in edmonton

do you guys drive around in 3-4th gear and redline while cruising or something? o_O

ive driven to santa barbara and back (200 miles round trip) and still had enough gas for 2 weeks after (i'd say atleast another 100 miles) on one tank...

and i always fill when ive got 2-3 bars left, seems like my gas meter is pretty linear.

i average about 21-23 inmixed driving. i get about 120 + per 1/2 tank, when thelight comes on i have maybe 10.5 gallonsgo into ther tank, so my reserve is about 40 miles or 2 gallons conservatively. the bars mean nothing except when they are gone. one bar means fill it now!
