no test pipe attachment, but still no CEL
i guess i didn't screw in the O2 simulator attachment tightly enough to my Megan resonated TP. today on my way home all of a sudden my exhaust sound just changed to become super loud and raspy, like i had a hole in my exhaust. i pulled over, looked underneath, and discovered that the O2 sensor with simulator attached were hanging down. i jacked up the car and tried to screw it back in by hand but it wasn't working. i look at the simulator and realize that from dragging on the road for the ~10 seconds before i pulled over, the top of the threads had been messed up.
so i unscrew the O2 sensor from the simulator and screw the sensor directly in to the test pipe (just so the annoying, my-car-is-jacked-up noise would stop). i drove around with the sensor plugged directly in to the test pipe for about 5 minutes and no CEL was triggered. i plan on getting the threads fixed then putting the simulator back on. but does the fact that i still have no CEL mean that i'm running leaner than i should be (less gas = less pollutants exiting through the pipes, right?)? sorry if this sounds stupid--i'm a n00b when it comes to the more complex aspects of the way a car works.
TIA for your feedback

souds like it is running fine some ppl say they run test pipes w/ no sim and have no CEL problems.
As for the sim its a waste IMHO, all you need are a couple of spark plug non foulers to space the rear o2 out.

I would replace the similator as soon as you can just to be safe.

yeah my uncle's gonna fix the threads like tomorrow and i'm gonna put it back on. i'm guessing i won't be able to keep the CEL off once i get a header/VAFC (if i leave off the simulator)?
