No immobilizer indicator light - car won't start
Hi Guys,
I have a problem starting my 01-S2K. I believe the problem begun when the guy washing my car set the alram off. Whatever happened after that, he was able to drive the car the few feet back into the car port.
A few days later when I went to start the car, the starter is turning healthy (battery seems OK) but the car refuses to start. I figure it is either an alram condition or an immobilizer problem, or I have a serious fuel/spark problem.
I downloaded the alram instructings for my car (a UK S2000 '01), and finally I fully understand the system. It seems to be working fine as per instructions.
When I switch the ignition on ( on II), the green imobnilzer "key" light no longer comes on at all as described in the owners manual. It used to when all was fine. This is why I believe the immobilizer is "in a bad mood" or state since the alarm went off.
Is there a trick to this that I am missing - or do I have to tote the car back to the dealers to deal with this?
Tanx in advance.
Bill

No I did not try this, thinking it could not be as simple as this (does this not make it easy for thieves?). I will try it though.
Thanks

You must have a programmed immobilzer key for the car to start. If the Green key light is flashing, either the key is not recognized, or there is a problem in the immobilizer reciever.
The Dealer will be the only place that has the equipment to determine what has failed.

Yeh, well I have all three keys and the green indictator light does not show up at all - no blinking, no one for a few seconds - just not there

You might take a look at your owner's manual. I do not have mine in front of me at the moment, but I believe there are some words there concerning this problem...metal items on key chain, things to try, etc.

None of the keys are being recognized by the immobilizer system. You need to make sure your car doesn't have an aftermarket alarm wired in which could be causing the problem.
If you don't have an aftermarket alarm, it's an immobilizer issue.

crazy bump but I’m having the same exact issue, any ideas on what to do to fix it? It seems to be intermittent, sometimes it reads key and starts fine, sometimes no read key no start
