No bars on gas gauge, 2 gallons left... What's your experience?
Last sunday I was forced to really run the gas tank all the way to empty, (and then some) to the point that I had no bars on the gas gauge.
I still drive about 9 miles with ZIP on the gauge, then finally filled the tank (No topping please).
I was able to pump 11.2 Gallons before the pistol clicked off. Knowing the gas tank holds 13,2 Gallons, it means I still had 2 gallons left.
Has this been your experience. Not that I mind the conservatism of Honda in trying to avoid people running out of gas, but just wondering if it's just my car or everybody's in the same boat.
Cheers,
Daniel

In my experience when the light comes on ( low fuel light ) I still have 3 gallons of gas in the car ( able to pump 10 gallons ). Without any bars left and the light on, I was only able to pump 11 gallons of gas.

never let the gas run that low, dirty particles at the bottom of the gas tank can be sucked up and clog up the fuel injectors. i usually fill up when i have 2-3 bars left on the gauge.

LOL I can relate to that. I've gone about 40 miles on E on the freeway. Once the light came on, I slowed down to 65mph. I had to, since my destination was still too far away hehe. When I filled up my tank, it was 12.6 gallons.

It seems that that would make sense, even tho I never let it get that low yet. Seeing as how the gas gauge losses bars faster than the estimated gas mileage would have you think, it makes sense that there is more gas left when the light comes on than you might otherwise believe.
Case in point: I just drove from Pittsburgh to New Jersey last weekend (300 miles). Now if I'm believing Honda mileage estimates for this car, and I'm not racing it, I should be able to do it on one tank of gas, but if I believe the gas gauge, I'd run out well before my destination.
That's why I stopped to fill up well before thinking I would have to.

you also dont want to run out of gas, because it can also do damage to the fuel pump, by letting it over heat, as it is cooled by the fuel itself.
just wanted to throw in my .00002 :-p
