can you share any of the details?
Was this for an all-titanium key, or a titanium head with some other metal for the business end? Was the huge cost for setup, or per key (or both)? Did you guys have a workable design figured out that incorporated the immobilizer?
I think you could sell a huge number of keys, even in the $75+ range.
Thanks for anything you can tell us,
Ted

Keep in mind guys that if you plan to run a Spoon, Mugen, BackYard Special, or Feel's ecu that the JDM key would be perfect since there is no immobilizer feature in these ecu's.
My friend purchased the Spoon ecu and the car would not start (the immobilizer code is kept in the ecu )!
He had to disable the immobilizer feature to keep the ecu, in a case like this you would not have to modify the key housing.
Just and FYI
PS buy the way Rick - I finished the JDM corners, they look awsome!!! Thank you again

Leo, that isn't totally correct. If you add a Mugen or Spoon ECU you don't need to do anything. They don't have the immobilizer feature built into them. So all you have to do is plug in the ECU, put the key in and push the start button. The immobilizer is not an option/feature in JDM S2000s. They don't have it, so it won't be in any ECUs you get from a JDM manufacturer. As for the BYS, I always thought that was a piggyback system and not a direct ECU replacement. Which would mean that it works the same way as a Apexi VAFC. So you don't need to do anything there either.

All I know is M6682 could not start his car after plugging in the Spoon ecu.
He later explained to me that he has to disable the immobilizer feature and then he was able to use the ecu, but now has a CEL due to the disabled immobilizer. You might want to PM him to see if he has any updates on his issue.

It's all right I don't need to PM him, I know he is wrong. I have the Mugen ECU and so do many other people. I have talked to other folks who have the Spoon ECU, and it's the same way. The brains of the immobilizer is in the ECU not in the key. The key just has a tiny transponder. To simplify the ECU sends a signal to the key and the key sends a signal back. So if you remove the ECU there is no signal that needs to be sent out, therefore no signal needs to be sent back. Think about it. If it isn't there why would it look for it? Same concept if you went with an AEM EMS. You don't reprogram the AEM EMS to work with an immobolizer, because it isn't an option. There is no such thing as an immobilizer in JDM cars, so if you have a JDM ECU it can't exist. I think he has some other problem, he shouldn't be getting a CEL from the immobilizer.
