And I didn't crash, even though according to some on here it is a sure thing. In fact, the tires didn't even slip at all (RE050s that probably have about 2-3k miles on them). Amazing. How did I drive to work in that death trap and not slam into the first telephone pole I saw???

No, I want to disprove the myth that it can't be done, and point out that people who DID wreck their car were either driving on bald tires or dicking around driving like idiots...or both.

No one said that it couldn't be done. Many of us DD our stook... sometimes you just can't avoid rain.

But MANY people have spun out on wet surfaces as s02's aren't nearly as sticky in wet conditions as they are on hot sunny days (which everyone takes for granted).

You don't have to be driving like an idiot in the rain to crash your car. Remember your not the only one on the road, and there could be another stook that spins out because of bald tires and hits you. Unfortunately anything can happen.

Go to an empty parking lot when it's raining and see how hard you can push your s02's and have some fun. Then go on a nice day and do the same thing. Polar opposites...

 

Sure is a lot of big talk. I really hope it doesn't come back to haunt you. The probability of losing control is much higher in the rain, as for any car. No one said the S will surely kill you if driven in the rain.

 

My point was that if you keep your ego in check and don't try to "push" your car in the rain, your chances of being the 114,525th owner to post the "Help! I wrecked my car 4 days after buying it!!" go waaaaaaaay down.

 

There's a simple rule, that new drivers *usually* have to learn the hard way. When the roads are wet you slow down. If you can learn the easy way fine, but for some yahoos, experience is the only teacher.
