Default New or Slightly used S2k pricing/pros&cons

I am looking to buy either a new or very slightly used s2k in california, I just want to get an idea as to how much dealers are offering after negotiating and pros and cons of each of my purchase options.

I am having the debate over new 07/08 or slightly used certified 06/07. Below is my analysis of my purchase options.
__________________________________________________ ____
New
Pro-
Do not have to worry about a previous owners negligence
Better finance rates
5 years before smog needed
Con-
additional price/taxes
__________________________________________________ _____
New 07 specific
Pro-
Dealers are desperate to sell 07's to make way for more 08s.
Con -
one extra year of depreciation. Less inventory to select from.
__________________________________________________ _____
New 08 specific
Pro -
one less year depreciation. More availability
Con -
dealers less willing to negotiate on price then 07s
__________________________________________________ _____

Used 06 or 07
Pro- better price. Additional warranty (100k for cert. preowned)
Con - previous owners negligence. Worry that there may be addition maintaince work required and not covered under warranty.

From after looking around a bit this is about what I feel these cars are selling for... Accurate?

New
07 - $27-28
08 - $30

Used (certified with under 20k miles)
06 - $24
07 - $26

What do you guys think? Anything else to consider? (ie. is new cheaper for insurance? or anything? pricing look right?)

Any reason in particular? Seems there are some regrets in getting an 06....Have you had to deal with any additional maintenance issues? Felt you could have gotten a price just as good for a 07?

an '06 with 17k for $29,000 OTD? yikes. i got my 2007 new last august for $29,500 OTD.

to the OP...if you buy new, you also know that you were the only one who beat the crap out of the car and didn't overrev, etc. i believe some people on this board have had problems thousands of miles down the road after buying used from people who mistreated their S2000s.

This was the main reason I bought new. I know I could've gotten a used and saved some $ but my peace of mind was worth more to me than the price difference, at the time.

I have an 06 and have been meticulous IMO and haven't had one major issue. (I say major b/c stuff like the top rattle, seat belt squeek, etc are things you'll probably have no matter what MY you buy).

No matter which MY you get, you'll love it though!

i was originally going to get a used one but my father had told me that he would rather have piece of mind that i got a new one and not have to deal with what the previous owner had done to the car and such. i agreed with him and got a brand new 08. i couldve chosen a brand new 07 but none were in black in my area, but i wish i couldve gotten white now. :[

Another thing I am debating about is the color. My first choice would be Laguna blue followed by gray. In my search I have been finding a ton red s2k's that I can get a good deal on. I do like red but I feel it might be too girly for this car or too flashy when it comes to CHP.
