new s2000 owner
Well last weekend I bought a 2000 silverstone metallic s2k. I had a camaro z28 that I had built a little. I was knocked off the road 3 weeks ago by two riced out civics on i-95 that were racing. I would have never thought that I would own a honda, but then I drove my friends s2k. I had to have one. My brothers girlfriends dad was selling his and I jumped on it. It had 20,500 on the clock and he let me have it for $17,700. I couldn't believe that he let it go for so little. He never drove it, it was just sitting in his garage collecting dust. He didn't even know what vtec was because he never took it over 5 grand. When we went out for the test drive I brought up to 9 grand in first and second. He was amazed and it seemed like he almost regretted getting rid of it but he said a deal is a deal. I love this car it doesn't have the straight line power of my camaro, but I knew that going into it. Now put it in the twisties and this thing takes whatever you throw at it. I already bought a catback from bms, a prm, intake and dc sport stainless headers(they are on back order till next month). By the way the owner had purchased a extended warranty that goes till 75k miles or till 2007. I think I got one hell of a deal.

Welcome to the club. Sounds like you did get a good deal indeed. I almost bought a 00 Silverstone but the deal wasn't quite as good. You also rescued an S2000 from a lifetime of improper useage. I don't understand why anyone would buy one of these cars and never rev it. Your friend could have saved $10k and got a Miata.

Remember the S is tricky to drive so take your time getting to know it.
Also use the search function to read up on modifications. The DC headers and the PRM intake are both notorius for leading to losses in HP. There is a real reason why so many tuners do not make parts for the S2K and that's because it is very difficult to get good gains from NA mods.
Best of luck with your S and have fun on these boards. It's one of the strongest communities there is.
It does sound like you really got a great deal on the car
