Default New to S2000 Online

Hello!

I just joined this forum cuz I thought it might be kinda fun.

I'm on my second S2000, and think they're pretty darn awesome! The only thing i can't figure out, is why my insurance company only charges me $75/month to insure it. It's exactly what I pay per month for my SUV.

I called another insurance company (to shop rates) and they were $2,000/year higher. Anyone else had this experience???

Anyway.. my current S2K is a white 2001 with red leather (bought new in October). My first was a Red 2000 with Black leather. Bought that one used. I guess it was used as a "dealer demo" when it was traded in.... and they had to replace the transmission upon getting the vehicle... and then in the four weeks I owned it... the transmission was replaced twice. (NEVER BUY FROM RICHFIELD-BLOOMINGTON-HONDA in MINNESOTA.

Of course, the Honda store I bought it from was less than helpful. In fact, they were downright pricks about the whole thing. So, after calling Honda Corp asking them to buy it back --- I was flat out denied.

What I can say.. is that if the car wasn't so awesome.. I wouldnt have traded it in on another S2000. Dealing with Honda on my first *lemon* S2000 was a complete nightmare.

Anyway.. the dealer I bought my second S2K from was awesome! So awesome, I think I'll buy my third, fourth and fifth S2000's from them

So that's my intro story ---- not too exciting, but none-the-less I'm new and wanted to say hi to everyone!

Ciao for now.

Welcome, my insurance wasn't as bad as i had expected either, although with three drivers and four car's the S2000 being #4 must have helped. I was wondering what took you so long to join us if you've known we existed for so long, you've missed so many drives i'm sure.

Welcome

Mike

Hmm...why did it take so long to join????

I was told about the forum back in August... but didnt really take a good look at it. I post on a few other auto enthusiast boards (Saturnfans.com)... since I also own a Saturn.

When I "re-discovered" this site last night.. I decided that I'd join.

So... um... sorry I guess???

Do you guys have "driving" events in the midwest???

My insurance is only $63 a month. Pretty affordable car really. I think insurance is based, with a few exceptions, on the driver more than the car. For instance, A Mustang GT driven by an 18 year old guy would probably be 150-200 a month. My dad pays about about $40 a month for the same car.

Another Saturn owner, huh?
I graduated to the S2000 after driving an SC for 11 years -- so when people complain about the S having "no torque" I just do this:

Actually, the SC was a pretty fun little car and I have a high opinion of the dealer network . I like that company.

Yeah... I hate how people say "that engine doesnt have enough torque."

They never complain when my car hits 6K and the VTEC kicks in!!!!!!

Of course the people complaining about the lack of low-end torque probably dont have anything that matches the performance of an S2k!!!

Heck... it's faster than a boxster at half the price. What's not to love.

As far as Saturns go... I've owned about 8 or 9 of them so far. My family has about 9 right now. We were honda freaks.... got headed over to Saturn.... now were heading back the Honda direction.

Unless Saturn gets some serious product out there.. they'll lose a lot more than just their enthusiastic customer base.

I can say that service is always better at Saturn than Honda, but then again, Saturn doesn't make a car with a 9,000 RPM redline
