It's not the highest grade leather in the world, but after 2.5 years and 30k miles I only had a little wear on the entrance side on my driver's seat as would be expected.

They've still got mine listed on there. I sold it to them almost three months ago. It is stock #2091064 in Tampa, I never had any problems with it but the first owner didn't treat it very well apparently. Pretty much the entire wiring harness under the dash was held together with nothing more than electrical tape and there is a rusty hole covered with a black plug in the driver's side door jamb where a dent was pushed out in the rear quarter panel. I'd stay away from that one but as long as you inspect everything carefully. Don't trust Carmax's 1200 pt inspection since it obviously didn't catch these problems either time the car was sold to them (I bought it from them too). I'd say you are ok with a used one, mine never gave me any problems while I had it, I just forsaw some in the future with the above mentioned issues. I'll probably wind up buying a used '02 or '03 in a few years unless Honda decides to stiffen (sp?) the suspension back up and increase the redline back to 9k on the MY05+.

I recently picked up a MY02 S2k from carmax and found it to be a pretty good process. You obviously have to treat the buying process with as much scrutiny as you would with any other dealer. Know the value of what you are purchasing and you can't go wrong.

That said, here is my advice: Pick up the car from carmax. Use their 30 day return period to have the car thoroughly checked out and do some cross-shopping. If you like it, keep it. If you find a better deal, you really haven't lost anything.

Yep, i was planning on buying an 2004 ABP RSX-S. With all the options i wanted it was going to come out to around 24k before TTL. While i was waiting for the 2004s to come out, i discovered i could get an s2k for around the same price and with around the same insurance. I looked at the pros and cons of each and decided that the s2k was much more my style. Ive only owned the S for bout a month, but I dont regret my decision at all.

Get the S2000 if and ONLY if

1) You can deal with having a 2 seater
2) You can afford to buy Winter tires/rims (should you live in the snowbelt states)
3) you dont have a toddler, and if you do, make sure you have another vehicle (the passenger seat does NOT have an airbag off switch, unlike the miata)
4) Are not going to treat the car like a dragster, high rpm lauched from a standstill leads to clutch, axle, and diff failures.

You are asking everyone that own a S2000. If you don't have a second car or don't really haul anything you should get it by all means. The tires are expensive compare to the RSX and you have to roof to worry about. You can't carry as many passenger also. The RSX motor takes in mods better but the suspension is not as good as the S2000. The S2000 attract more attention if you like it or not. But if you put an exhaust you won't get hassle as much as if you own a RSX. In reality you have to see you need and resources before you can truly make the commitment.

its quite obvious what most would choose on an s2000 forum..

unless you're looking to dump $10K into making a fast track car, I'd take the s2000. However, if you are dumping that kinda money , I'm told by the speedstar guru's the k20a won't be beat , and allows for more high speed mods

Go with the s2000 from Carmax.

I bought mine from CarMax and I'm happy with everything. Worse case, if you don't like the car, return it. They also have bumper-to-bumper extended warranties at extremely low prices.

...you'll have a lot more fun with the top-down in the Florida sun than with the sunroof back...no regrets.
