...the price is over $100 per tire more than the Dunlop SP Sport 8000 I just put on today.

I guess I'm glad I don't have Z-rated tires, else I have to drive 149mph+ all the time since that's their lower limit!!

Seriously, you are correct!! I must have always mis-read the speed rating charts before! But according to http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/speed.htm the V rating is not an "exception" like the Z rating.

Uh oh. I guess I'd better stay away from Z-rated tires -- I don't usually drive that fast!

Thanks for all the clarification. Looks like I got the PP's and not the OEM's which means I'll need PP's on the front in the spring. I do notice they seem to handle better in the wet and I cant really tell the difference on dry, so thats the way it is and they will have to do. Maybe next time I start replacing tires there will be something better or I'll just go back to these as I like the wet handling. I dont plan on racing or going to track. It will make the car more tail happy (on dry pavement), but depending on how hard you drive it you may not notice any difference.

What about the width of regular S-02's vs. Honda OEM S-02's vs. PolePositions? Elsewhere on the board, it has been noted that the rear Honda OEM 225/50-16 S-02's are much wider than anyone would have guessed. I believe Pepe measured them to be 260mm wide! How wide are the "normal" 225/50-16 S-02's? I think differences in tire compound and tread are important, but tire WIDTH should have an even more significant impact. If you are effectively putting on "narrower" tires by using non-Honda OEM S-02's, won't this have an adverse effect on handling?
