New Owner! Questions?
Just got my new S2000 two nights ago, have only left it to get a little sleep. Slept ten minutes last night got up twice during the ten minutes to make sure it was still in the drive way!
Now i can see why all you guys love this car so much. Here is my first couple of questions:
I have a Suburban with 204,000 miles and have used Mobil One. The engine runs like new, does
anyone have suggestions on the best oil for the S2000. Questions two, when i have to replace the tires (I know I just got it but at the rate I'm thinking of places I need to go, I'll need them in two or three months!) Does anyone have suggestions on something with treads that will make it a little better in wet conditions, but not loose its tennacious grip?
Thanks,
TechRep

I know what its like to get up in the middle of the night to check your car .
Do you know what kind of oil the previous owner used? How many miles on the car? Do you have SO2's on the car now?
SO3's are good tires, lots of grip and they will do better in the rain. A lot depends on your driving habits and your budget .
Congrats on the S, it is an awesome car!

Don't change the oil for a while, but keep an eye on it because S2000 engines tend to burn oil. This is normal!
Honda doesn't recommend switching to synthetic oil (Mobil 1 is a synth) until somewhere near 10,000 miles. I think the aforementioned redline is a synth too, but I'm not sure. I'd stick with a mineral oil for a while, at least that's Honda's recommendation.
Welcome aboard!

Take some time and look around the site, especially the stickies at the top of each forum. You questions have been answered.
There is a sticky in the Under the Hood forum that covers oil reccomendations by our resident engineer, RoadRage. Personally, Mobil 1 is my best bang for the buck. And easiest to aquire.
Take a look at the Tire forum for info about tires and sizes. S02's are great but pricey for how I drive. I'm running Yokohama ES100's. Again, my best bang for the buck.

I didn't realize you had an 04. the RE50's are pretty awesome, (I've got an 04 also) I haven't had them in the rain yet. I've got 1800 miles on my car, haven't burned a drop of oil, but oil usage varies a lot on these cars.
I may have change oil prior to 7500 because I will have reached the time interval. If so, I will use castrol dyno and put in an additive to approximate the break in oil. Lots of info on this site about oil.
I won't go to synthetic till after 10K, and then I may use a blend. I had a Porshe 924 that used no oil, when I put in Mobile 1 it burned a quart every thousand miles.

I'm between 1600 and 1700 miles on my car and haven't been able to tell that she's burned a drop of oil either.
Congrats on the new car!

Edit: BTW, not one sign of a water leak either! This is the first convertible I've been in (and I've been in more than a few!) that can make that claim. I hope it holds true.
