Out of curiosity, do you have any hyphotheses as to what could've caused the problems with your Evo? A friend has one and his third gear is gone. However, his is modified and he's raced it a couple of times, so I'm sure that could've possibly played a role. Are other Evo owners having any problems? I usually look this stuff up on http://evolutionm.net/ but haven't browsed over there recently.

Btw, I'm on my second set of Kumho Ecsta Supras, and would say that they're only so-so. They don't handle as well as the S02's in the dry and are a lot louder once they wear a little. In the wet, they seem to handle a little better than the S02's, but the difference is marginal. However, the pluses are that they last longer and are a great bargain for the price.

 

I honestly have no clue as to what the problem was. When i got the car checked at the dealer, they said the two codes were for crankshaft and camshaft sensors. They checked out both sensors and everything was ok. They told me nothing was wrong with the car and that they couldn't do anything because there was "no problem" to fix.

I haven't read of a problem like mine on the evom webforums but it seems that if you don't have a 100%(and i do mean 100%) stock evo, dealers will make up any excuse to void your warranty and not service your vehicle. Even with 100% stock evo's, dealers are trying to blame drivers to avoid servicing vehicles. Although customer service varies dealer to dealer, in general, the customer service provided by mitsubishi sucks. The environment at a honda dealership/customer service center is much more friendlier then at a mitsubishi dealership/customer service center. You'll also notice that honda dealerships are usually filled with customers. When i bought my evo8, i was the only customer in that 2 hour span.

I think i am going to try to find a set of rear s02's. That seems to be the best option for me at this moment as i want my car to handle the way its supposed to be from the factory. I'm not a fan of mixing up brands from front to rear. Thanks for the help guys.

 

if you want ultimate handling, get the S02's. excellent on dry roads, but pretty damn bad in rain(dont even try it in the snow). if you want a better all season tire that offers decent preformance but is driveable in the rain, go with the S03's. i personally am going to keep the s02's forever, and just drive my other car when the roads are wet.
