New owner of an '02 S2000
Got rid of my evo8 for an '02 s2000 yesterday. Man, it feels great to be back to all-motor land. I'm in love again .
The car came with yoko A550V tires in the rear and the car feels as if it were on ice sometimes. Would getting stock tires fix this problem? How much do stock s02's cost?

Yeah, i think i'm the only person that would ever do that. The dealer even questioned my trade. My friends, family also questioned me. But...for a 30k daily driven car, i wanted quality, reliability, styling, and enjoyment. The EVO8 filled my enjoyment requirement, but it lacked reliability, quality, and the styling was a bit iffy. Within 2000 miles, i had 3 random shut downs while driving, and 3 check engine lights. That was a bad indication for what would happen in the future. The dealer couldn't find any problems and refused to do any service on it. Although i believe my evo8 was cursed and that it doesn't reflect all evo8's, i still think the s2k is better than the evo8.

Once you pick up a set of original S-02 tyres for your new car, come back and let us know how the handling and fun factor compare to your EVO!
Dunno about pricing in the states, but I budget around 150 EUR each for them here. Be sure to get the ones specially made for this car, they're a bit different and wider.

Your right, not many Evo owners go to S2ks, but I like your choice.
This car is wicked bad mis-matched tires. If you have a different kind on the front and rear, look out.
Get the OEM S02s if you can afford them. Whatever tires you decide on, get a full set. You will find that we eat up rear tires about 2:1 compared to the front. That means every OTHER time you get new rubber, you'll get a new full set.
Enjoy the ride!

You're in Cali,
Check tirerack and get some Kumho's, 1/2 the price of SO2's and just as good in good weather like SoCal. At least that's what I would do, and then use the left over money to get some CAI or stereo upgrade. Just my 2 cents.
Evo would've been a great second car though.

Are you talking about the kumho ecsta MX tires? I was thinking about those since they're supposedly pretty close to the level of grip as the falken azenis but they come in the correct size and they're only 83 a pop. Wet weather tracition is not a concern to me because i try to avoid driving in the rain as much as possible and will not drive hard if i'm forced to.
I would have liked to keep both the evo8 and the s2k, but one had to go and that was the evo8. S2k is much more fun to drive.
