Some aftermarket shift knobs can ring. Non-OEM clutch disks are noisy, but with 22k mi, I'd imagine the car is still on original parts. Is the stereo original? It may have been put back in and there might be a loose bit behind it. The rearview mirror has a plastic cover that also can work itself loose.

These are all one-off issues though, nothing that the 2004-2008 S2000 is known for. The droning is probably the intake noise as you rev through the rpm range. The S has a four cylinder engine - known for vibration - and a high redline, so when you get on it, it makes a lot of noise. Does the noise change depending on how much gas you're giving it?

 

Thanks! Yes, the stereo is an aftermarket Alpine unit, so it's possible that there's something loose behind it. It's not a concerning issue altogether, but often with various cars some "obvious" rattling/squeaking noises have some ready solutions handled by felt tape.

I lean towards the same explanation, too: the droning noise goes away once you're on the go and above 3K RPM, so it's definitely some low-freq vibration. Again, it doesn't bother me, but being new to the car, I'm checking out every little noise & issue in the first few weeks of ownership.

I wouldn't worry about it then. Its a Honda, it has almost no sound insulation, and its a convertible. Its a noisy car.
