New (to me) S2000
Introductions seem to be in order, so here's mine.
The back story...
Back in the summer of '01 I decided to get rid of my Lexus SC400 and get a convertible. I short-listed the Z3 and S2000. Decided I didn't like the Z3 styling. Decided there was no way in he!! I was paying $8k over MSRP for the S2000. Ended up buying a Miata (which I had not short-listed because I hadn't realized they'd been restyled in 1999 and I didn't like the M1 styling, but that's another story).
Now it's the summer of '04. Still like the Miata, but want more power. Talk to the same Honda dealership about a trade-in for an S2000. They decide to jerk me around again (now wanting $2k over MSRP). Decide to supercharge the Miata instead.
Start thinking that if I was willing to shell out approx. $20k difference between the Miata and S2000, why not keep the Miata and get a used S2000.
Find a 2002 (silver/black) with 41,500 on the clock and it's Honda Certified. Get it for $24k @ 3.9% for two years.
Drove it home about three weeks ago. It'll be my weekend car with the supercharged Miata as my daily driver. I'm telling my wife it's because she complains that the Miata can't carry four people, so now I can carry four people. Okay, it's in two different cars, but still...
So far I've gotten a 2004 console off eBay ($340 shipped) and have an Alpine CDA-9831 and KCA-420i sitting in boxes in the trunk waiting for Modifry's DCI to arrive so I can get them installed.
