Default New Hardtop Option

Does anybody think that they should make a carbon fiber hardtop at oem spec? I think so. Maybe we should get together and petition for one from seibon or something. They make CF mugen style, why not OEM? Who's with me?

I think the glass maybe a problem. Bling carbon fiber isn't the strongest and may have too much flex to have a large curved glass window like on the oem. Seibon and Mugen use a basic design plastic windows.

Yeah but that plastic will be a$$ in about two years. Then you will have to replace it. I don't trust anyone here to replace it and do a good job. Besides its just a thought. I just don't like the mugen style, because you have to get a wing and front lip so that it doesn't look so unbalanced. Just my opinion.

The aluminum OEM hardtop with glass only weiths 39 lbs. Carbon fiber seems like a considerable expense to shed a few pounds, at best.

Isn't the OEM hardtop aluminum? I have one on my S and it is quite light ... I think it's aluminum but confess that I don't know that for sure. Does anybody know ...

Seibon copying Mugen is one thing but to copy an existing Honda product is suicidal.

I've been asking for a CF OEM-style HT for years!

I think an amuse HT replica would also be a good choice.

Part of the problem with producing an amuse or OEM-style HT is the curvature of the rear window. The Mugen HT doesn't have this problem because it uses a small, flat rear window.

I made some Lexan windows for my Alfa Romeo track car, but the curved rear window had to be custom made at a shop that makes Lexan stuff for helicopters.

Do you want an OEM-style CF hardtop instead of aluminum because of the CF look or slightly lower weight, or is there some other advantage that has escaped me?

Thank you in advance.
