New Driver's Seat - Fitment Problems
First let me say I'm pleased that Honda agreed to replace the leather (both driver's seat and seat back) under warranty on my S. It would be an expensive proposition to do it on my own $$. This was a couple of months ago, just before the warranty expired. The side bolster and seat were beginning to wrinkle and crack prematurely. The dealership had no problem replacing the leather and has been very good about all warranty work throughout ownership of the car. That being said, they did the work themselves rather than taking the seat to an upholsterer. When I went to pick up the car, they told me that this was the first S2000 they had attempted to reupholster (they said they had no problems with Accords, Civics, etc.) and that it turned out to be more difficult than expected. Consequently, the leather doesn't fit on the seat properly. Although the leather looks good, there are quite a few wrinkles. The service department manager even admitted that it looked different than the passenger seat but asked me to give it a month or so to see if it would conform to the seat frame over time. I agreed and so far there has been no change. I'm debating as to whether to take it back to the dealership and ask them to fix it or to take it to a professional upholsterer to see if they can make it fit better for a reasonable price. Anyone have experience with re-covering seats? Any advice would be appreciated.

If the dealer did it the first time and acknowledged the shoddy job, take it back to them and tell them you want it done at an upholstery place. It sounds like they're pretty willing to work with you.
