The WRX is a really fast car. It beats the ITR every time but doesn't really come close ot me. When we race im usualy 2 cars ahead of him. And form a roll it's worse. IT's still a great car, just not an S2000

Hi again,
I've been looking at many cars tonite online, even the damn MR2 Spyder I doubt you guys like. I was reading the S2K does not have great power/acceleration at low speeds. I've discovered that is the type of car I want, great power at the low end. I've realized I don't need to drive at 100MPH ever! Now, I know you guys might disagree with what I'm about to say. I came across the 2002 Mitsubishi Sypder Eclipse GT. A lot of people like that car and many don't, probably you guys! I like the car because of it's looks, its a bit larger and hopefully more safer than the S2K. It's a FWD car so not as much of a challenge. They offer the car w/ sequential shifting which is pretty cool as its similar to my ATV (clutchless shifting). Again, I've loved the car at times and hated at other times. I know the car "just" has a 200hp V6 which is no where near a S2K. I really don't need the S2K's extreme power in everyday driving in the city. I mean, power is welcomed, coming from a minivan and a Jeep. Just let me know what you think about the Eclipse. Thanks.

Hey there,
Sorry I really can't compare the S2000 to the Eclipse. Even with the 200hp V6 the S2000's weak torque will still "get there" quicker than the Eclipse. I think the S2000 is what your looking for and I know you won't be dissapointed in it. It's got the power when your looking for it, drop top, 9k revs, rear wheel drive, and is reliable (after all it's a honda) The little technological advancments are what make this car great. HID, etc etc. Trust me when I say this car sounds like it's for you. I forgot to answer your question earlier about my nitrous set up. It cost 500 installed. The brand is NOS. The installation was 100% incognito and not one person has found it yet. I have posted pics of the set up and they can be found here, Nitrous Set Up

I'll be happy to buck the trend and say maybe you shoud NOT get the S2000.
Here's what I figure (for AgentDSS) :
1. You will become annoyed with the lack of trunk space. I just know it. Your car
will be useless for transporting friends, gear, dorm room stuff, kegs, equipment, you
name it. You can fit in ONE set of golf clubs. You will ALWAYS be seeking a
ride from someone else. You won't get half the attention you think. "He's
only got a two-seater, forget it. Everyone hop in my Land Cruiser!" (Remember,
this is college. SUVs are king, race cars are so yesterday-- depends on
the school, of couse.)
2. You will become annoyed with the "lack" of low end torque. Personally
my car lives between 3-6k, I usually let off before VTEC, just to "preserve"
my engine. I think it's fine, but if you're coming off a Z28, I don't see how
you would love the S2000. If you get some big person in the passenger
seat, you will feel it even more. You won't be able to impress people like
you want to. You also won't be able to "chirp" the tires without some
serious engine rev and clutch dexterity.
(don't jab me about letting off before VTEC. I get there plenty, I'm just
judicious about it!)
3. Again, YOU might be a good driver, but we keep talking about dings, bumps
and scratches for a reason. Last time I checked you're not the only driver
on the road. Remember, that aluminum hood is cool but it requires special
equipment to fix if it get's damaged (a HUGE complaint from NSX drivers).
Most of us have other cars so it's not horrible if we have to leave the S2K
in the shop for a bit.
4. I think AgentDSS will get board with the Honda name. When the chicks
flock to the guy with the BMW, Merc or Porsche, he will be upset that all
he has is a Honda.
5. If you're already thinking about NOS, turbo, SC, etc, etc, to fill in some of
these gaps, definitely forget it. In the hands of inexperience, NOS can be
very dangerous. When your testosterone is pumping cuz your friends in
the passenger seat and some musting is tailing you, you won't be able to
resist. Then you'll kill two people, not just one. Turbos and supercharges are
safer, but you are prone to all sorts of new mechanical failures and some shops
won't touch your car once you mod it like that.
Blah, blah, blah.
If you want my advice (which I doubt ), get something stock, get a marquis
that will support your ego and get something with four seats and a trunk.
I still think an M3 is the best choice for you, if not the new one and the older
model. It's fast as hell, has unquestionable performance, 4 doors, manual
transmission (although the 4 door, manual is rare), trunk, marquis, stereo,
auto-everything, etc. Or get a used ML430, Carmax has 100's of them.)
The rest of us are perfectly happy with our S2Ks. You won't be. Trust me.

I'll be glad to take you on a test drive and let you drive mine if you like
And trust me, when it comes time to merge on the beltway, you're really gonna love hitting redline in 1st, 2nd, and possibly 3rd gear Merging on I-95 is one of the better parts of my day now

If you're leaning toward something like the Eclipse, you might also take a look at the RSX, particularly the type S. A little bigger than the S, more trunk space. You can squeeze a couple of people in the back if you want, and its still a fun car. I have driven the regular one, not the type S, but it was still a fun car. Might offer a sort of "in between" route for you.
