Default new car dealer purchase

I am trying to buy a 2005 with the lease program and having trouble getting the local dealers to be reasonable. Here in Seattle, i had 1 dealer that wouldn't go below 35k WITHOUT a hard top. So far the best I could get was 32k. I am talking to the Hardtop Guy's dealer in Ohio but it is roughly 2000 mi from here + airfare. Any suggestions for a NW dealer that is motivated to do reasonable deals?

Maybe try an online service like Carsdirect?

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm just surprised that with as many people who have claimed to have gotten their cars for under 32k it is such a secret where.

I paid 33 for mine and went to many dealerships all over Texas, which I know is to far away. The only time I ever saw any real deals is when the new cars were out and they had an old year model still new but with 100+ testdriven miles. Then you could get a deal of <32k. Good Luck and remember get the best deal you can but a grand or two is not going to make that big a diffence on your payments.

I just (like 5 minutes ago) read an advertisement from my local Honda Dealer. He is advertising an 04 Berlina S2000 for $29,290. I know the car has set in his showroom for year now. Never been titled and never been outside. It's a peach of a deal, but the 2,500 mile plus distance is a real turn off - On the other had, if you have the time, fly out, buy and enjoy a nice drive back!

I do understand your having a problem getting a decent deal on the west coast. My son lives in Portland, OR and it seems everything is high priced out there. Good luck on the search and if you are interested in the 04, the dealer is Murry Honda, in DuBois, PA phone (814) 371-5502.

I thought there was a sponsored Honda Dealer on this site that promoted invoice priced cars?

If you find a real good deal you can always do the deal over telephone or online and have the car flatbedded back. I have had the quoted to me before and it is totaly inclosed in a trailer. The price is per mile but in the end it might be worth it to get 5k off a car.

I live in Seattle and had the same problem. I don't know why getting an S below list is so hard here. The best I could get was list at Honda of Seattle. They had a no negotiation, no dealer mark up policy during the summer of 2004. Perhaps waiting until our weather goes bad (ie: end of this week) would help.

Have you tried going directly to the internet fleet manager? Tell him that you can get a 2005 s2000 for 31,000 plus fees and if he can match it, you will take it home today...should work because the 06's will be out in another month or so.

just buy one out of state and have it shipped back, going rate now for enclosed trailers is between .75 and $1 per mile. I ship cars out to Cali every week, and after the shipping, my clients still save money.
