Hey guys,
I've been "lurking" here for a while now. I was one of those die hard DOMESTIC guys for the longest, growing up in a family with nothing but Mustangs. All my cars were Mustangs. Up until I saw the S2000 on the road for the first time. I had NO idea what it was, just that it looked AWESOME. I started looking through some MotorTrend mags to find out what it was, and saw that it was a...... Honda?? The way I read magazines, was I would search the mag for articles pertaining to Domestics, and that was it. So I of course knew nothing about the qualities of Honda. I started reading articles, searching the web etc etc. I quickly found myself looking for used Hondas or Acuras for sale! I bought myself a 96 Integra GSR, and loved it! I still have it! I would LOVE to get my hands on an S2000, but it will be at least 6 months to a year before that is feasible. I went to a dealership, but they wouldn't let me test drive it unless I was "ready to buy." He told me that they didn't want to put the miles on it. Understandable, but he had no idea if I was serious or not. Oh well. Anyways, I'm from St. Louis, and I noticed a lot of you guys are too!!
I was reading the thread on parking your cars away from others, and then that afternoon, I saw a black S2K in the Crestwood Mall lot, parked on the far perimeter away from everyone else!
If I do get an S2K, it will have to be my daily driver. I'm in outside sales, so I travel around St Louis quite a bit. Is this a car most people don't want to put miles on? Do you recommend I step down to an RSX or something for daily beater? I really want an S2k, and I know it comes down to my own decision, but you guys have lived with the cars, and I'm picking your brains! I guess it comes down to me needing to DRIVE one to know what I really want, but it sounds to me like they are very engaging and fun cars. This forum is full of cool guys, unlike some "others" that are full of fabricated kill stories, you guys seem like the real deal. Congrats to all you lucky S2K owners!!!!!!!
NOW I WANT ONE!!!!!

The GSR has a much different feel IMO. The s2000 is an amazing car- much more responsive handling (also a bit trickier). Look around in the paper for a dealer with a used s2000, then take it out for a test drive- they should let you drive that, and a used one has the advantage of being broken in, so youy can wind it up to the higher rpm range without guilt- and that's where the car really shines.
The car is my daily driver- but if you're in sales make sure you can live with it in terms of room and ride- I like the ride- again lots of road feel and very responsive( four in wheel double wishbones), but at slow speeds on rough pavement one can feel the bumps. Give it a try. It's an amazing car.

Glad to know that you like HONDAs as well, imports aren't so bad after all eh? Won't comment what is better for a daily beater and what is not since everyone is different when it comes to opinion. You should decide upon that yourself rather than hear comments. If you're on a budget constraint, it's always an issue. But an S2000 is the second best sports car next to the Honda NSX, that should be an important point to consider when making a purchase.

Hey Jay Li, I'd LOVE to go to a meet!!! But wouldn't some people object to a non-S2K owner? If not, I'd LOVE to go! What do you normally do? ( Of course I'd have my video camera rolling a lot! )
Thanks for the invite! At the St Louis auto show in January, I made my Fiancee sit in the Yellow S2K, and she loved it! She hates when I buy powerful cars, so when she asked me what type of engine it had, I said a little 4 cylinder and left it at that, and she was happy! ( she thinks performance is synonomous with how many cylinders it has )
Now at the meet, my little Integra wouldn't be able to keep up with you guys at all!!

HisforHonda, anyone interested in the S2000 is invited to come to the meet. If it'll make you want an S2000 even more, then great! This will be the first meet for the area so we don't have anything planned yet specifically, my guess is a drive, followed maybe by dinner somewhere.
