On my old MR2 Spyder the passenger lock worked the same way with a double press of the remote button. It is kind of a PITA and is much nicer to just have to hit it once and be done with it. Someone discovered that there was a way to "reprogram" the remotes to give the one button unlock without any wire alteration. It involved about 10 steps of opening/closing the door, pressing buttons on the remote, turning the ignition on/off etc in the proper sequence and within a certain time frame to get it to work. Kinda like the auto-defroster disable that can be done on the S but even more involved. I'd be willing to guess that there's a procedure to get the "dual unlock" on the S via reprogramming too. Just a matter of finding it...

Step 1 is good - first time i removed the batter to install a sub. i was so pissed off when everything was done, and the radio wouldn't go on.

Any way to get the keyless entry to work with the car running?

For those without a manual, what this mod does is disconnect the passenger door actuator motor from the keyless unit and connect it in parallel with the drivers door actuator.

I didn't know about the auto defrost defeat, I'll have to go search for that. Thanks!

I have an OEM security system. Any ideas if this will still work?

Totally agree when someone says the wife's pet peeve. Or when I'm cleaning the inside and I just hit the button once, clean the driver's side and then go around to clean the passenger's side and get pissed because the door's locked.
