Haggling is half of the fun. Up front education is the key.

PS - driving away in your new car is the other half of the fun...

I am only 23, but when I walked in to purchase I had the money prepared ahead of time, and *told* them what I was going to pay... a lease was completely out of the question... w/o spending more than 5 minutes I was already on a test drive in a car that arrived the night before.

PDX. Actually it seems one of the first fundamental advice that people give you is never say how much you're willing to pay. But I agree. If you're a young guy walking into an luxury car dealership they might mistreat ya.

Mark, I think that the truth is that you went into the dealership unprepared and worse you just tried to run through the dealership. It's not a matter of leasing or buying. But if you obviously were planning to buy why lease the car? I don't think it saves you any time by leasing a car rather than buying it. You can't sign a contract and expect to break it or change it the next month.

Mark like I said I could be wrong, but I don't think I was that far off for such a succesful man you should have done your homework.

"take a look around..look at yourself" ?
Like I said it was nothing personal just a comment on your unjustified complaint against Honda

I look at myself everyday and I'm a pretty happy guy, as a operations manager for 5 very busy outpatient MRI centers I don't get much time to sit around all day doing nothing but it pays the bills.

(I just thought more about it and maybe your right, I don't even own a S2000. I don't even deserve to be here I'm truely sorry please forgive me!)

Yeah Mark....I have to agree....if you cave to their pressure without reading all of the fine print....it's your fault.

To me, their was no pressure from the dealer...just looking at the Yellow Stook in the showroom was enough for me to pressure myself

I am sure you'll forget all about it after a few thousand miles

I'm curious, what kind of gun was it? The one the salesman was holding to your head? I figure probably a .45 or something of that nature....

You are responsible for your own actions.

man,

I can't believe some of the people's reaction on this board. This was just *MY* experience.

If everyone had a great experience at their honda dealership, thats terrific.

Can I get a show of hands on the number of members who had bad experience at the dealership?

Sorry, not me. My experience was nothing but positive. So positive, in fact, that I have recommended this dealership to friends and business associates.

BTW, please put me in the group that thinks that you

I got my car on a lease due to the high pressure sales from the sales guy. In my mind I'm thinkin okay just lease the freakin thing and get out of there because I didn't want to haggle. In a month I'll buy the car.

Well I went into a bank today with the mind set of buying my S2K. Guess what? Freakin penalties up the ye-hole.
Well maybe you should have taken a few minutes to read the paperwork before you signed it. So why are you complaining!?!

[B]My next car will be no-haggle pricing from either Acura, BMW, Mercedes, or Lexus.

I live out of Portland, OR so if you want to know the dealer that I went to let me know.

Most of the local dealerships here, in St. Louis, were charging only MSRP for S2000 (with no forced options either) when I bought mine last Summer! I imagine that's still the case...
