Need some advice on an intake and exhaust.

When deciding on an intake/exhaust for the S, since gains will be minimal on both ends, I went for sound. I use to run an AEM V2, HKS exhaust, and a testpipe. Here is what is sounded like:

So your answer is to throw money at... Save a buck here or there, but you are still throwing money at it... Not the response I was looking for.

If you want to make the most power naturally aspirated, in a useful range, then you need a 70mm single exhaust, J's header (proven the best gains as of yet), and Individual racing throttle bodies. If you can't afford Toda's ITB's, you can wait for the fuji racing ones like I am, or in the meanwhile, go with J's intake or equivalent (any other form of intake is going to net you minimal gains.) A lightweight flywheel will also help free up some horsepower, and certainly do the Hondata IMG. As far as tuning, get a VAFC or AEM ems, and start trimming your fuel maps. Many, many members on this forum are engineers for the manufacturing companies that produce products for this car, so much of the information you hear here is FACT...not fiction to sell products. Like it's been said before, damn near everything ever made for this car (with the exception of the new Megan header), has been dyno proven or disproven by multiple individuals on this site, and that information is now common knowledge to those of us that frequent this site. I see dyno charts, I believe. I'm dyno'ing every single modification to my car, and documenting all changes. Don't think that we're all a bunch of name brand whore's here who insist on having all mugen or all j's or all spoon parts on our rides. Some of the members are like that, but they can be found in JDM tuning. The rest of us that are really trying to tune this car are open minded to all the products that DO show results. Just my $.02.

There was the response I was looking for... Honestly, I am not trying to get on anyones bad side. Just testing the knowledge that you have. I do appreciate all who responded and I will take ALL of you answers into consideration. I myself strive to be a tuner not a part thrower. Thank you all again for your responses and if I did offend someone, please do not take it personally. No attacks were intentionally malicious.

S2KUSMC, I see what you are saying and you are correct -- different companys engineer parts differently -- do not listen to what people like afwfjustin say about midrange not mattering, if you drive your daily it is more useful more of the time than top-end power.
And thanks for bashing us JDM guys wildcardtrd, I have a Spoon snorkel, Spoon filter, and gutted intake box and made 5rwhp over stock. Consistently, dyno'd correctly. From talking to Spoon reps though, they told me that they try to engineer their parts more for top-end than midrange; for instance, there is a very popular thread where versionJDM is at 221rwhp (peak) on a Mustang dyno with basically just a K&N drop-in filter, test pipe and Spoon exhaust, but only at like 138lbs/ft of torque.
Good luck with your search, I hope that you figure out something useful.

Your best bet is to call up the company that made the part and ask them if it is a proven "tuner" mod and not a "part thrower" mod. That way you get the information directly from the manufacturer.
