Treadwear numbers are meaningless IMO. Or more accurately, don't trust that a higher treadwear tire will last longer. I purchased Bridgestone Potenza RE730s to replace the original S02s when they wore out. The handling was worse, and I ended up wearing the 730s out within a few thousand miles of the S02s. The OEM S02's have a treadwear of 140, the RE730s have 300. Maybe, *maybe* I got an extra thousand or two more miles out of the RE730s. But I definitely didn't get a big increase in wear time that the more than 2x treadwear impies.
Stick to the OEM S02s, IMO.

Oh one point. There are two types of Bridgestone Potenza S-02 that you can get. One is the OEM S-02 (usually listed as Honda S2000 OEM S02 or something like that). The other is the Bridgestone Potenxa S-02 Pole Posision tires. These two are not the same! Make sure you get the OEM tires and not the Pole Position tires if you're following the advice of this thread.

205/55/R16 W89 for the front
The W89 and W92 are speed ratings that signify the Honda OEM tires for the Bridgestone Potenza SO-2 tires.

well, I dunno about everyone else, but on my SO-2's were GREAT on dry pavement, but on wet, i felt like I was going to loose the car any minute. I went to new wheels (18") and went with yokohama es100's instead of the s03's. The treadlife is a bit longer and wet condition driving seems a lot more controlled. So i guess it's all about what you want.
