S-02's definately. Don't change from real deal. You can only hope to duplicate their ability. I haven't read about one S2000 owner to date that has raved about another tire ever being stright out better than the S-02.

If staying with 16" wheels definitely S02's (assuming you want max performance tire wear be damned). If upping the size, since you can't get the OEM S02's try Khumo Mx's. Awesome tire for the price. I've been through a few Max Perf tires on my other car BFG KD - Incredible, Yoko AVS sports - awful for a Max Perf, Michelin MXX 3- very nice but poor in the rain, Toyo (forget which) - nice, and Khumo MX- almost as good as the $100 more BFG KD.

also check out the tire and wheel forum on this board for other ideas (especially if you are changing the wheels too)...

I'm currently running S02's with 17.5k on the front and brand new Kumho 711's on the rear. At 56 per year tire it was the cheap alternative -- and a whole lot of fun as I don't mind roasting the rears now.

Handling is honestly not down much if at all from stock although the 711's do make some more noise when pushed.

However, I agree with the above, stick with the stock S02's.

I switched to S03's when my original S02's were worn out at 11000 miles. Now, 9000 miles later, the S03's are almost bald!!! Yeah, I've had a ton of fun spinning the S03's every change I get, but only 9000 miles on em?

I just got done about an hour ago ordering the S02's from www.tirerack.com. I'm going back to the originals.
