Been away from the group for a little while, but there seems to be quite a bit of heat about the OEM S02 and what they can be replaced with.
Can you guys please bring me up to date. Are the Potenza S02 the only replacement tire we should use? Does the S2k need a special S02? Is there a problem getting these tires????
Can somebody please just give me a quick update with what's going on please...
Many thanks

My understanding is that if you want to keep the handling, you have to go to a bridgestone tire dealer and ask for the correct size Honda OEM S02 Potenza's.

And supposedly if the tires are marked like: 225 50 R16 92W (rear) or 205 55 R16 89W (front)
then they are the correct (meaning Honda OEM version) Bridgestone S-02. These Honda OEM tires only come in two sizes (the 205 and 225).

It's been determined that a 225/50 Honda OEM S-02 on the stock 16" rims (that's 7.5" wide) has a wider contact patch than a 245/40 PolePosition S-02 on a 17" rim (that's 8.5" wide)!!

Has someone in this group ever take real measurements of these OEM vs. OTC PP's. I do not understand how a 205mm wide tire can be wider than a 245mm tire?

My tires measured 205 front and 235 rears, measured at wides part of tire, mounted on stock rims, 34 psi cold. I'm wondering if this is the proper way to measure a tire. Should it be measured unmounted?
