Need help w/shifting.......
I did it again.....I heard that horrible screeching sound again while shifting to 2nd after redlining 1st gear. What is it that I am doing wrong?? Boy was I embarrased.....

Are you ABSOLUTELY positive the clutch was fully in? Sometimes if I'm a little excited and shift too agressivly, I'm out on the clutch a little soon and can grind/miss 2nd... If you are totally positive, check on the TSB 55 (or was it 54?) for the 1-2 grind fix.

There was a post a while back that helped a lot.
The basic idea is to "pretension" the tranny before you punch the clutch by applying a bit of force direct to the next gear. Then, as you punch the cluch the tranny goes smoothly into the next gear.
I tried it and it shifts much more smoothly than first disengagin the cluch and then sifting.

Sometimes I find I don't quite have my left foot syncronized with my right foot and my shifting. The result can either be a grind or a lurch. My wife, who drove a standard Honda Accord for years, says i don't shift for sh**. However, when everything happens at the proper time, all is smooth and quiet.
