Default need help please asap regarding spoiler problem

Hi, I need to make a decision about purchasing an 04 S2000 today. The car currently has the oem wing spoiler on it. I need to know if I can remove the wing spoiler and replace it with the oem lip spoiler without having to patch and repaint the trunk.

local honda dealer has been no help at all!

any help you can provide would be much appreicated.

thanks!

You will have to repair the forward holes in the trunk lid before installing the lip spoiler. The answer your looking for is No you will have to repair/repaint.

I say just leave the spoiler and then get the lip from hardtopguy later!

from the photo of the trunk (lip) spoiler on hardtopguy it looks like the wing and trunk spoilers are mounted at the same location?

The rear mounting hole location is the same. The forward hole is where the problems is.

I have the same problem. I bought mine with the OEM spoiler and am going to replace the spoiler with a 3d CF later on.

I've priced all the different possibilities.....

1. Remove OEM wing spoiler, repair/patch holes/repaint(with color match to the fenders) = $1200

2. Remove OEM wing spoiler, repair/patch holes/repaint trunk ONLY = $950

3. Buy another trunk, paint to color match to the fenders = $1050

4. Buy another trunk, paint trunk = $850

5. Remove spoiler, sell spoiler, patch holes, repaint to match = $650 - $700

6. Trunk swap + charge for spoiler = free

7. Buy the car without spoiler = savings of all the above.....

Prices are all from a reputable shop here in Socal. When it comes to paint......you get what you pay for.

Good luck....

I've opted for #3 because when I go back to stock I will have the stock trunk and spoiler. I'll just part out the CF spoiler and donate the trunk.

Just buy the car without the spoiler.

hey thanks for the run down, the problem is the car is used and already has the wing on it. I don't want the wing... it's an 04 Rio with 12,000 km on it.

I think I'm going to have to pass on it now. Sounds like too much trouble to do this without spending $$$
