Default Need help with bodywork.........

I just picked up my Black 01 from the bodyshop. Two questions;

1) This is a Canadian model living in Southern California and has the "Black Pearl" S2000 badges. The shop was unable to locate replacements and is trying to tell me that they must be dealer specific. Should they be able to get them? If not, where can I get them?

2) The paintwork did not blend in with the OE. It has very small defects which looked like bubbles. The guy said that the paint needs 6wks to cure and then they could be "polished" out. Is this true? Will they be able to bring it back to OE standards? He was implying that black was really hard to blend and that it may not be perfect. Do I have too much of an eye for detail? Thanks!

1) I think you are referring to "smoked" s2000 badges, they appear a little darker than the normal s2000 badges on the side. they can be found, under 50 bucks around here somewhere. its not dealer specific, someone swapped them out.

2) no idea.

Disclaimer: I am not a painter.

But, I used to do paint prep and, imho, the shop is lying their ass off. You aren't going to buff out bubbles, runs, orange peel, or any other painted in nastiness.

My advice would be to take it to another paintshop and just ask their opinion of the repaint. I-car gold class shops are usually helpful and (again, usually) do good work.

good luck!

That is exactly what it looked like, orange peel. Is this something to be concerned about? Is it well known in the industry for a Phuktup paint job? Thanks!

ahhh orange peel, that is what you were referring to. no, he's right, it doesn't buff out at all, that's how it is!

when a friend had his 88 RX7 GXL painted, they painted it that way on the bottom to match the factory orange peel. they need to strip it down and reshoot it, they goofed.

NavNurs,

If your bodyshop doesn't fix it right, I can recommend one up here in LA that will do the job, if you want to drive up here.

PM me and let me know.
