Default Need a favor from all of you synthetic people!

Ok guys... Here's the deal, when I bought my car the previous owner didn't have that great of choice in oil... He used Penzoil -- the car had 8900 miles, so I wasn't too upset.

Changed to Synthetic at 9500 miles, and since then (now 16500 miles), the oil has a fuel smell. Some of you might remember my post about this on the last version of the S2ki forums. --

For all of you that use synthetic, could you go smell your oil on your dipstick and see if it has a gas smell too it? I was told that it probably smells thataway because my seals adapted to the penzoil dino oil, and being that Synthetic is thinner, would cause some to leak through. A friend of mine who also has an S2K w/ Synthetic has the same smell, but I'm just trying to make sure here...

Thanks all!

Troy

Yes I use and have from day one syn oil. Yes it smells like fuel. No idea why but it always does. Have been driving it that way for almost 5 years and everything runs fine. Get my oil changes at the dealer and they use Honda Oil.

If they use Honda Oil... I don't know why it would be Synthetic... Didn't know Honda made synthetic oil.

Mobil for me...
