Im having some similar issues, last weekend I had to tell my mom that Best Buy didnt carry the plasma I wanted just to keep her from buying me a bigscreen, then she grabbed an xbox 360 and I used the same excuse, thats not the right one. I dont argue much when she brings me grocerys.

So they're paying for the car and college. You could have helped pay for more of the car but instead bought mods, expensive clothes, and eat out a lot. This doesn't sound like someone who is concerned about taking money from their parents.

Sell the car, problem solved. Hit up google if you're looking to forge paper work.
Yeah...I expected criticism. I'll admit I was being selfish by induling myself with such luxuries when I didn't make that money myself. People grow up though, and I'm trying to learn from my mistakes. Obviously this forged paperwork isn't the most mature solution, but as I said before, it's just to give them peace of mind that my car is paid off while not using their $. I'm working to make the payments on my car now, so I'd like to do that myself instead of continuing to rely on them. I'm really hoping I could find a kind heart on the forum.

[QUOTE=C4SxM5,Nov 30 2006, 10:48 AM ] let me call my bank and see if they can fax me one.

correct me if i'm wrong but i heard that for payments the bank first takes most of the interest in the first couple of payments and all thats left for u to finance is the actual balance of the car and it would only be worth it to pay off car if u only financed for like 2-3 months or something like that in order to save from paying interest

Your a little off there, yes you do pay more interest in the beging but thats because they are simple interest loans and you only pay interest on your outstanding balance.

Ex.

4 year loan $10000 12%

1st month you pay interest on the full 10k
and then less and less as the months go by.

Its not a pay the interest first deal.

Don't lie to your parents ... that is just wrong after all they have done for you. They just want to save you from the interest payments. Let them pay it off and make your payments to them. I think they would accept that ... no interest paid to others and their son becoming a man and taking responsibility for his debt.

Talk to them ... dont do the bs with the false paperwork man.

Wow I'm very impressed... I'm convinced that the s2ki community is MUCH different than that of the my350z community... If you go on there and post the exact same thing, the only responses you'll receive are along the lines of: "sell your car, you're too young to deserve it," "sell your car, you're too stupid to deserve it," and "sell your car, you're going to crash it and raise all our *mature* 350z owners insurance premiums." Even though I've been with that community for quite some time, I can now see this community is so much more friendlier. Thanks everyone

As for your car, I'm also from an Asian family and also a college student. Seeing that you have a brand new car let's say 35k minus 20k is about 15k. It's not hard to pay off 15k as long as you pay every month. If you're serious about paying it off you can do some homework at capitalone.com, they do magic. They'll approve just about everyone, even me. In the next week or so I plan to get my 2000 s2k. Surely it's a 6 year old car, but I'm getting it for under 20k with extended warranty with taxes and with less than 3000 miles. Since my credit is also not very established, something called a "first time buyer plan" is available. Basically if you downpay 30%, you can drive home your car with nearly no credit.

From what you've said, you're in a very lucky position. You got a full ride to school and in your S. Although I'm not as lucky as you are to have parents pay for my school and car, I would recommend having them pay it off. It's better than to lie to your parents, and what do you think killing yourself to pay off the rest of your car is really going to do? Especially when they put down 20k. Look at it this way, once you graduate and find a stable job, you'll have all the opportunities in the world to pay your parents back for whatever you so desire (without having conflicting priorities between school and a low paying job). Good luck.
