Default Nebbie question

I am a newbie and love the forum so far. Lots of great info and good topics. I am purchasing my 2004 Seabring at the beginning of May and can't wait. So my question is. I keep reading about when the V-tech kicks in. What does that mean? Any other info on the V-Tech engine would be appreciated!
Thanks

Just wait until you get your S, then you'll see what VTEC is all about.
VTEC: variable timing electronic control
with vtec no compromises have to be made between low and high RPM performance. One cam lobe is tuned for low end torque. Rev higher and another lobe takes over vavle operation for a boost in high end horsepower. So whatever the engine speed, power and efficiency are always optimized.

Hit 6000 rpm (roughly) and you will notice vtec. The mild racing cam kicks in and all hell breakes loose !!!!

although when I test drove the 04s, I've found that V-Tec is not as pronounced as in previous models - could be due to the fact that my AEM - CAI enhances my v-tec

VTEC is Variable Timing and Electronic lift Control. It comes in many flavors. We talk about VTEC "kicking in" but that is a mistake because a VTEC engine benefits from optimization in both the lower and the higher rpm range.

I've got it on my 11 1/2 year old Prelude. I think Honda first used it in 1989 in Japan and in 1991 in the U.S.A. in the NSX.

Here is a great private page describing VTEC.

VTEC cars I own:
'93 Prelude VTEC DOHC 2.2 L
'94 Accord VTEC SOHC 2.2 L
'01 S2000 VTEC DOHC 2.0 L

Once I finally VTEC'ed the car, the first thought that went through my head was "That was it !!!"

Maybe the MY03 and lower had a bigger kick, but truthfully I was a little dissappointed.

But the handling makes up for any lack of torque.

You are going to have to pry this car from my cold, dead hands.

how did I last 10 years in a sh!tbox ?
