I also have a faded right rear light. I went to the dealership they gave me the number to american honda, which I called and they said it was my problem since it was out of warranty. The guy told me they had never heard of this problem. What should I do?

I'm not sure how to go about the whole news, tv thing. Do you know of any dealers in the dc area who are replacing these? I am going to check out the link. Thanks

Now help me out with this one.......My car has a salvage title. I was told Honda wouldn't replace the seatbelt recall because of this and would imagine they would tell me the same thing with the tail lights. Now being that these are safety issues, shouldn't it be replaced anyway?

I don't think they have to on a salvage title.

I went to Weseloh Honda and they wouldn't warranty it since my car was past the 3 year mark. I talked to Tony. (Car was bought in Nov 99) How disappointing.

THAT SUCKS! The lights should not fade.

I'll have to think of something else. Say what you may but these lights shouldn't simply not fade in 3 years.

Hi, the 3 year mark has nothing to do with this as this is a "SAFETY" issue, thus legally the warranty is inconsequential. If they are giving you a hard time it is because they know this is going to cost the dealership a little extra coin and the cheap b@st@rds don't want to come out of pocket for this. You talk to the GM about this, if he doesn't move then contact your local news station to see if you have a "Troubleshooter" who specializes in shedding light on "shady" business practices and out right fraud. Here in SD we have a few of them and as soon as you mention you'll have a troubleshooter at given company's place of business they cringe in fear. This is for good reason as the news station will do a full expose of their "unethical" business practices and put peoples faces on TV. As you can imagine, this ruins a business in a hurry. Also as a back-up, contact American Honduh and let them know of the situation, they will also in many cases put huge pressure on the dealer if you tell them of your next move to get them all over TV. WE MUST FIGHT THIS CRAP AS WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SHOTTY MANUFACTURING AND OR MATERIALS USED ON OUR TAILIGHTS.

As a sidenote, this problem seems to never happen to people who GARAGE their cars, people who park their cars outside seem to be the only one's effected. Thus I would imagine that all S2K's are vulnerable under the right conditions...
