no its not my first manual tranny... I had a 99 Si and it would never do that! then again I've had a beefy clutch on it for 50,000miles so I guess its been a while since i've been on a stock clutch. all in all

I guess i would expect it to go maybe a few mph (3-5) but not accel up to 10+mph

anyways... thanks all, i have unlearned all that I have learned

Happens to me too when the engine is cold. My rpm's are up around 2k when I start my car in the mornings, but I like it because the car is easier to drive when I'm backing out of my garage/parking space

Accererating to 10+ mph might be a trick that your ECU has learned due to your driving style. Isn't the ECU self adjusting and capable of learning the driving habits of each individual driver?

ugh. are you being sarcastic or serious?

It's going 10mph because it's idling at 1600 or whatever rpm which works out to 10mph in first gear.

There is no trickery, or anything else involved.

hell when my integra was cold I used to drive it out of the neighborhood without hitting the gas, 3rd gear cold idle owns

I agree with everyone here. The S idles high when it's cold...so yeah you don't need to give it gas to let the car move forward or in reverse. I have a '06 also.

when you get moving in first put it into second and ease off the clutch and you'll go faster.
