Default MY06 AP2 owners.. have you ever noticed

It only started recently... I was pulling out of the parking garage and shifted into 1st, then to 2nd going down a decline, when i released the gas and the car continued to accel!! I thought well that's weird and never happened before?!?!

Days later, it continued to happen so I tested a hypothesis: at a stop, cold engine, would the car get off line by itself?

So (not on the street) I put the car into first and slowly released the clutch petal, volia: it starts to move forward to about 10mph. In reverse it would do the same. I've yet to test this on the street with a warm engine however, although I did stall on the street just yesterday (DOH )

Anyways to cut my story to an end, has anyone with an '06 or any s2k in general ever experienced this? i did a search but my keywords do not compute Could be an effect of Drive-by-wire? again its only happened recently...car is 2006 GPW with 4750 miles bought new in May.

Thanks

I've noticed this also on my 03. I think when the engine is cold, the RPMs stay >1k. That causes the car to move without additional throttle input when the clutch is released a little.

Uhhh, this happens on every manual transmission car. Releasing the clutch in gear even at idle will cause movement, if you release it slowly enough. Dump the clutch at idle in a F-350 and it'll just cruise at 2mph. There's nothing about this related to DBW or anything S2K specific.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but don't all/most manual cars do this, cold or warm? If you release very smoothly and slowly, the car will start off on its own? It's true in my S and also in the 911, M3 and CooperS that I've driven...

Since I sorta know what ucisgreatone is talking about, I'll venture to say that he means it rolls much faster when cold.

Well yeah, but that's only because the engine RPM is higher during cold start then warm start/idling.

Anything, this isn't an MY06 thing, or an AP2 thing, or a S2K thing, or a Honda thing.

It's what happens when you release a clutch on a manual transmission car with it in gear and the engine running.

Bingo!!! It's all manual cars, not just yours. When the clutch hits that engagement point, your actually idling, just like in an automatic...

Does this make sense? This is how I was able to teach a friend of mine to drive manual. I tell him to ease off the clutch until your car begins to move forward (or backward in reverse) and then give it a little gas.

You shouldn't have any worries.

Nothing wrong with your car; if you don't want to move, push in the clutch. I take it this is your first manual tranny car?
