MY04 who else gets good gas mileage?
Hey guys,
I've been pleasantly suprised by my S as the gas mileage has never been as "poor" as the EPA standards! I VTEC at least 2-3 times everytime I drive it, shift at redline, and do mostly city driving.
Pure city driving with plenty of VTEC I get 25 mpg... I just got 28 mpg this tank with about 50/50 city/highway. On the highway I was going 85 mph for about 110 miles.
Last "mile per gallon" thread I saw... I saw lots of people reporting 17 mpg or so, most people in the low 20's.
Why would Honda rate it at 20/25 if it doesn't really get that? I'm certain I drive harder than most "normal" people (about average for an S driver )

I VTEC 2-3 times per day, short shift, and about half my driving is on the highway. Total of 2000 miles so far, every tank has been 22-23 mpg.
Massachusetts is a lot colder than Arizona, though; maybe that has something to do with it. Also, I believe oxidizer diluted gasoline is required here - don't know about Arizona.

I just went through a tank yesterday. About a 1/4 of it was stop and go driving. The rest was highway. Although, I was doing 85-90mph for about half of it and hauled ass out of two tollbooths in both directions.
I filled up 11.5 gallons after going 285 miles on the clock. 24.78mpg. I have gotten near 28mpg doing a consistant 65-70mph on the highway for the whole tank.

MY04 average between 21-25mpg, Cty/Hwy. Straight Hwy, best MPG 28, on Interstate 10 AZ to CA at Avg. speed of 82mph. Worst MPG 18, lots of V-TEC and city driving.
