The 03 they tested must have been a color other than black. Because as everybody knows, the black S2000s are much faster.

Something else to consider would be the MY00 was a first model year for the states and could have been a press car or PR car that had just a little more power as Honda anticipated the testing. I have a BMI with Tsuychyia testing his own stock NSXR with K office suspension against a stock NSXR PR car form Honda, and he and another driver mention PR cars always being faster than normal - as it was just a little quicker on the straights.

Never the less, 5.5 to 60 and a low 14 seem to be more consistant to what AP1's actualy do right?

Car and Driver may adjust for weather conditions (and they also run in both directions to eliminate head/tail wind skewing). But they don't adjust results for surface conditions, as there is no practical way to do so. That can make a huge difference in 0-60 times. Just look at the difference in any CandD 0-60 vs. 5-60 test. Without the RPM benefits of proper wheel spin on launch the 5-60 times are always significantly slower.

Also, adjustments for weather do not take into account how sensative any particular car is to such factors. And as we all know, the S2000, like most Hondas, is particularly sensative to temperature.

Or maybe they did their runs before they had 3 bars on the temp gauge.

It's been done already, lots of times. The race always goes to the better driver.

the s2000 needs to be launched right, to low it bogs, too high theres no traction.... thats why there is such a discrepancy in 0-60 times.... but overall theres not much difference between all the years

Exactly. It takes skill to get a good quarter mile time with an S2000, and drivers vary more than the cars. MY02-03 cars do make a little more power than the MY00-01 cars, but the difference is so small that nobody's ever going to notice. Later cars (with the F22C) have noticably more torque at lower revs, but the extra torque doesn't translate into quicker quarter mile times. A good driver can run sub 14 second quarter miles consistently, but most of us can't, and the small differences in different MY cars isn't enough to make up for our lack of skill.
