MY00 faster than MY03?

You really can't use different car mag times on different years and claim the other is faster. In any given day, someone can test out a car, and the 03 can run a 14.2 and the 01 a 14.9. Generally, they are the same speed, and the driver plays most of the role in the times, not the actual car. This thread really has no relevance.
Also, it's proven that certain cars are just faster out of the showroom then others, and after a few years have passed. Heck, I knew a guy who had an 04 STI just like mine, and on rhe way to a car show, we were rolling them on the highway, and I was actually pulling on him a bit, everysingle time in 6th gear. It was manipulated to see who's car was faster. Same car, both bone stock, similiar mileage. He wasn't happy, but that's the way it went. I somehow got a slightly faster STI then he did.
This could also perhaps play a role, along with thw weight of the driver, ect ect. Just too many variables to even go by times you read on intetnet.

Don't trust those comparisons all the time. There are many factors that could've played a part in the different speeds. Too many to point out at this point, but I'm pretty sure you are aware of them. Most important is driver skill in getting different times. From what I have seen, the times from MY00-MY07 maybe the MY08, should still be in the 13.9-14.2s range in the quarter stock. I know there are some that have gone faster and some gone slower. And that being due to driver skill. Just know those are the average times.

Car and Driver uses weather corrections. Road and Track does not. That probably explains the differences in testing time. Also, two cars off the assembly line at the exact same time will get slightly different performance numbers even if all other things are equal.
