Reminds me of a younger me. Nothing you can say or do to him will be as hard on him as he will be on himself. It is important that he revisualize what he did to understand what went wrong. Was it due to the road or his lack of ability? Have him think about it a lot. He was lucky and he knows it. The example set here is a good reason to get your young drivers to autocross. It not only lets them explore the cars' limits in a safe environment, they can see for the most part how badly they really drive. The trick is to keep them alive and healthy so they can become parents and start the worry cycle all over again. This was a close call.

You are correct about that, he is taking this hard (as he should be considering all that happened)

Well, i guess this means your son can join the "I crashed my dad's S2000" club. I learned the hard way too. My advice is to get performance driving lessons at a track.

A parent's disappointment is a child's worst fear. Trust me. I wouldn't care about the ticket, I let my dad down. I can only imagine.

Your car can always be replaced...I'm sure your boy has learned a lesson here, thankfully he'll recover.

Glad your son is OK.
He is lucky to have a truly excellent Dad.
