Default My Theory On The New S2200...

We've all heard rumors about the new S2200. 2.2 litre engine, some interior updating and maybe an automatic. How about this theory: Honda retains the S2000 for 2004 and Acura aquires the new "upgraded" S2200 as part of their line for 2004. Comments?

they never going to make it an acura
because in japan Honda is the only name that exists.
Plus i think it's a marketing deal to use S2000 to attract
buyers to the honda showroom especially young ones.

Toyota did that with Celica but didn't offer up another option.

makes sense for Acura to replace the NSX, but not for Honda because it will be losing sales big time. So I don't see that happening.

But I think the 2.2L is the first step in the Miatazation of the S2000, meaning automatic transmission, softer, more of a chick car.

Acura and Honda are exactly... EXACTLY the same thing. Some cars are sold with the name Acura in the US for marketing purposes. They are still made by the same people in the same factories. For example the NSX is made in the same factory in Japan (where the S2000 is made) and is marketed as Acura NSX in the US and as Honda NSX in the rest of the world.

Well, considering that the 2.2 liter is already mentioned in the Honda color chart, I would say you are wrong. It won't be sold as an Acura.

I've owned Hondas and also have a 2003 Acura TL-S. If you think about it, the Acura is an upgraded Honda. I also understand that in other countries, Honda has a different approach to how they market their models. Here in the U.S., however, there seems to be a popular marketing plan as to how models are presented. IE; Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infiniti and Toyota/Lexus, etc. They all have the "upgraded" model approach, with more horsepower. I don't know about colors for the new 2200 being shown at dealers. I checked with mine and he thought I was nuts! Don't throw my theory out yet as it could happen. The pattern fits.

The Acura RL is made in Japan.
