Default Is my shift boot supposed to look like this?

My shift boot has been hanging down like this since I got the car. I've seen some boots that seem to be attached right under the shift knob. Now I'm starting to wonder...is mine jacked up?

see the nut right under your shift knob? well turn that so the nut moves down and touches the shift boot.then turn your shiftknob until it reaches the nut.

just pull it up. There is a plastic or rubber circular piece on it that should help keep it up. If not turn it in to your dealer and get it replaced. You don't want to be limp

Supposed to be covering the nut.

In the first place, the nut is on backwards. In the second place, I'll bet that the knod is not screwed down all the way.

Basically whoever prepped the car at the dealer was a clown.

Mine is like that too.. MY04, not sure about the nut though, gonna have to look later. But the solution is to turn the nut lower so it touches the boot and then screw the knob lower to the nut?
