My '02 rattles. I wouldn't worry about it.

 

that rattle comes 1 out of 10 times on my 00, I don't know about the 02 yet, since I didn't drive that much.

it is just a very slightly rattle on my car and like what i had said it shows only 1 out of 10 times. if your is not like that, than I am not sure is there are something went wrong.

 

what's this talk of 'they all do it?' mine doesn't do it, has never done it, and hopefully will never do it - perhaps it's an older model year issue, but my '02 is rattle-free.

 

No noise on my 02. Just some noise upon startup for about a second until it has full oil presure.

If it gives you any comfort at all, my car SOMETIMES rattles when I shut off the engine.
BTW, what's octane rating got to do with the rattle??? - just curious

 

mine does it, and the other S2000s I've seen do it too. Anyways who cares, it's nothing bad, don't worry about it. it's not like your engine won't start again just because it rattles when you shut down your engine. Just ignore it.

I don't know what octane rating to do with the rattle, but I feed my S2K with 94. So it should not be the problem.

Recently, I just find out if I press the clutch all the way down before I shut off the engine. There won't be any rattles at all.
