My S2k has let me down rant
First off I'll admit I rushed into buying it so I'm only one to blame for this but I gotta rant haha. So I bought it march of 2011 it's a 02 bb. Has ap2 rear end tailights exhaust and wheels. Red leather she was beautiful with 58k on the odo. The lady I bought it from was the 2nd owner she had a kid with her husband in feb so she needed a bigger car. I bought it and it drove great..... So I thought. 3 weeks later CEL pops. Cool whatever didn't have a scan tool so I did a compression test the next day. 190 189 90 187... Oh f@#k here we go. Take it to mechanic and I find out the I have scored cylinder in all 4 and the head is shot.. Whatever I was upset At myself for being dumb so I ate the loss and coughed up 3g's for the new motor. Motor was a rebuilt stock. 50k mile f20. Cool my car is back I drive for about 5 months rack on about 4k miles. Going to work one morning and I get on the freeway and shift into 5th At about 4k Rpm and I hear gargling and a dropped valve that raped my cylinder and literally the valve cut into the heAd. It looked like I revved to 13k and the valve flipped shit. So at this point I'm mad I drive the car to work and back and probably. V-Tecd 4 times total I drive like a grandma. So now after another 3 grand I'm driving again and my heart is broke. I tried to sell for a while but I love the car but I can't afford Any more heAdaches. Now After a year she sits with 63k and has a leaking crank seal and it's prety fast. Basically the first motor I found was turboed I found cut out holes in the plastics around the radiator for the intercooler. And my hood has a cutout on the underside from the intake it lines up perfect. So that's fine with me I messed up. The second motor I didn't deserve. For the way I drive it shouldve been at least a 150k motor. The valve literally cut into the head at 4m rpms. Idk what to do lol I love the car but like I said I can't take anymore headaches. /rant

My mechanic bought the second head from a private seller it was just back from a machine shop for a valve job with new oem valves and all. My guess was the valve wasn't seated right. And he didn't catch it. Not sure though and this one now needs an adjustment the lifters make a little to much noise. And this motor has Bryan cower guides and retainers

So the first motor was previously forced induction and the next one had a questionable rebuild done and failed... how is this the fault of the design of f-series motors? If you want confidence that the motor is built right, buy a new OEM motor or a low-mileage unopened motor with a warranty. A vast majority of s2k owners never have any major problems with their motor unless they modify it heavily or fail to keep the oil level up to spec. It sucks that you had to spend all of this money on your s2k, but buying used vehicles (and motors) that don't have a warranty is always a gamble because you can never truly know the history of how they were treated.
